ON TOP OF ONE MIRACLE... ANOTHER MIRACLE...
SOBRE UM MILAGRE... OUTRO MILAGRE...
The whole set and various props of the Fátima comedy are transferred to Santarém
There you will find the famous holm-oak shrub, already badly plucked by the trembling fingers of the believers; a cross roughly hacked out with a billhook; a small picture showing a rosy-cheeked lass in speckled clothes, comfortably seated on a verdant carpet of grass; two tin lanterns smeared with oil, etc., etc.
No one knows how this came about... There are some, however, who are of the opinion that it was Our Lady herself who worked the miracle of this removal — to spare the devout the rigours of the winter season.
And indeed, there is a little more comfort there... both outside and inside.
