My dear little Lucia

Minha querida Luçiazinha

I hope you are in good health, as well as all your family, to whom I send many greetings.

Thanks to Our Lord and the Most Holy Virgin, I am in good health, but very sad, because day by day I see myself growing thinner, which gives me a lot to think about, since I eat well and sleep well. Look, my little Saint, pray hard to Our Lady for me, will you? Ask her to deliver me from this epidemic*, of which [1v] so many people have died; two people in my family have already died, a Nephew and a Sister-in-law. Pray to Our Lady for their dear souls and for all my family, will you? We must bow our heads and receive from the hands of our good God the punishments that Our Lady announced to you, since people did not do penance, and I am perhaps one of the most guilty.

I am still deeply impressed by the great Miracle that [2] Our Lady worked for you, which I, thank God, saw, having had the good fortune, without knowing it, to find myself at that blessed spot. I consider myself very happy to have gone there.

God willing, in the summer I shall go and spend some time there, for I think of nothing else.

It is said here that after the 13th Our Lady appeared to you and that you said that by 13 November your

secret will be disclosed. Look, my little Friend, let me know whether it is tr-[2v]ue, because I shall only believe that you had a vision if you tell me so yourself. Answer me very soon, will you? I shall be anxious for your reply; and if the Most Holy Miracle happens again I want to go there, as do many people. Goodbye; do not forget me, because I too keep you and your little Cousins in my Oratory with Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Goodbye: give a hug to your good dear Mother and Sisters. Regards to your Father, and accept for yourself [top margin of fol. 2v] many little kisses, and give them for me to your little cousin Jacinta, from your very loving little friend
