Rev.mo Senhor
In the name of the Most Holy Virgin, I thank Your Reverence for all the work you have undertaken and for all you have done to spread the glory of the Mother of Heaven.
Em nome da Santissima Virgem agradeço a V. Rev.cia todos os trabalhos que tem tido e a propaganda que tem feito da gloria da Mãe do Céo.
The account of the persecutions of Fátima goes with this letter.
A historia das perseguições á Fatima vão com esta carta.
I shall now answer the questions you put to me.
Vou responder ás perguntas que me faz.
2) The water has no connection with the Apparitions. As there was no water there and building work had to be done, I had a tank dug to collect rainwater. At a depth of 1 m water appeared, and it has never run short since. Since there is no water in those mountains, which are essentially limestone, and since this coincided with the celebration of the first Mass that I authorised at the site, the people took it up as a devotion.
2) A agua não tem relação com as Aparições. Como ali não havia agua, era preciso fazer obras, mandei abrir um deposito para recolher a agua das chuvas. A 1m de profundidade apareceu a agua que nunca mais faltou. Como naquelas montanhas essencialmente calcarias não ha agua e como coincidiu com a celebração da primeira Missa que autorizei no local, d'ahi a devoção do povo.
3) The place of the first Apparition was where the little Chapel now stands, built by the faithful, which houses the image of Our Lady of Fátima;
3) O logar da primeira Aparição foi onde está a pequena Capela erguida pelos fieis e que guarda a imagem de Nossa Senhora de Fatima;
4) I have heard talk of apparitions to Jacinta when she was in hospital in Lisbon, where she died, but I know nothing definite;
4) Ouvi falar de aparições á Jacinta, quando estava no hospital em Lisboa onde morreu, mas nada sei de positivo;
5) I never spoke with Jacinta, who had already died when I came to be Bishop of Leiria;
5) Nunca falei com a Jacinta que tinha falecido quando vim para Bispo de Leiria;
6) The canonical verdict* will perhaps be given this year, but this has not yet been decided.
