Most Ext. and Most Revd. Sir
Exmo. Revmo. Sr.
Allow me, Your Revce, still under the great impression I felt yesterday at that place where I am convinced supernatural things are happening, to trouble Your Revce in my own name and in that of many pious people who are very interested in the same matter.
I know that Your Revce. stayed at Fatima until today and must have spoken at leisure with the children5, and I come to ask you [1v] the favour of telling me what they say about what Our Lady told them, to be repeated to the people. Does the little girl maintain what I heard from her, that Our Lady had said the war was ending yesterday ? I fear that this was not said by Our Lady and that someone suggested it to the little girl, who, somewhat unconsciously, repeats it. If the war does not end and the little girl persists in her assertion, it will do the public great harm, because many people would become somewhat unbelieving.
[2] I saw the little girl, but only in passing, and I did not have time to ask her whether Our Lady had spoken about the recitation of the rosary (5 decades) and whether she had told her anything more that she wants done. And might the Lady have told her some other secret? And did the other children know what the Lady was saying[?]. And might Our Lady have promised to appear more times and to give a sign of it? I very much wish to know this, for there are immense numbers of people who regret not having gone yesterday and would still like to go some time.
[2v] Bear with my importunities, but Your Revce well understands them, and that it is not out of mere curiosity that I ask all these questions. And I shall use only what Your Revce tells me I may repeat.
Does Your Revce know that here at Granja there were people who saw the rotating movement of the sun and the pink cloud passing in front of the sun?
And I am, with all respect,
Your Revce's vry attve. venng. obld.
E eu sou com todo o respeito,
De V. Reva. mto atta. Vnrda. obga.
