Depoimento do P^e. Francisco Brás das Neves¹, sobre duas entrevistas com as videntes Lúcia e Jacinta.

F^r. Francisco Brás das Neves, curate of the parish of Freixianda, in this Patriarchate of Lisbon, declares: that, having interviewed on the twentieth of October of the current year the two little girls of the parish of Fátima who say that Our Lady appeared to them at the place called Cova da Iria, in the same parish, on the 13th of the months from May to October inclusive, also of the current year, the elder, named Lúcia, had stated to him that Our Lady, when she appeared to her on 13 October, had promised her that the war would end on that very day. He likewise declares: that, meeting her, Lúcia, again on the eighth of the current month of December, and the observation being made to her that the war had not ended on the day indicated, nor indeed up to that date, she answered that perhaps she had been mistaken, since her companion Jacinta had said that Our Lady had said, for her part, that the war would end, yes, but if the people mended their ways. And, because it is true, I make the present declaration, which I sign and, if necessary, swear to.

P^e. Francisco Brás das Neves, coadjutor da freguesia da Freixianda, deste Patriarcado de Lisboa, declara: que, tendo entrevistado no dia vinte de outubro, do corrente ano, as duas meninas da freguesia da Fátima, que dizem ter-lhes aparecido Nossa Senhora no sítio da Cova da Iria, da mesma freguesia, no dia 13 dos meses de maio a outubro, inclusive, também do corrente ano, a mais velha, de nome Lúcia, lhe afirmara que Nossa Senhora, quando lhe apareceu no dia 13 de outubro, lhe prometera que a guerra havia de terminar naquele mesmo dia. Outrossim declara: que, encontrando-se de novo com ela, Lúcia, no dia oito do corrente mês de dezembro, e sendo-lhe feita a observação de que a guerra não tinha acabado no dia designado nem tão pouco até àquela data, pela mesma foi respondido que talvez se tivesse enganado, pois que a sua companheira Jacinta dissera que Nossa Senhora havia dito por sua vez que a guerra acabaria, sim, mas se o povo se emendasse. E, por ser verdade, faço a presente declaração, que assino, e, sendo necessário, juro.

1 He was born in Pedrógão (Torres Novas) on 5 December 1884. He was parish priest of the parishes of Ribeira Branca, Zibreira and Alcanena. From the end of 1915 he was curate to Fr. Faustino Jacinto de Almeida, parish priest of Freixianda. In 1922 he was appointed parish priest of Seiça. He died on 5 November 1923.

1 Nasceu no Pedrógão (Torres Novas), a 5 de dezembro de 1884. Foi pároco das freguesias da Ribeira Branca, Zibreira e Alcanena. A partir de fins de 1915, foi coadjutor do Pe. Faustino Jacinto de Almeida, pároco da Freixianda. Em 1922 foi nomeado pároco de Seiça. Faleceu a 5 de novembro de 1923.
