This notebook contains seventeen leaves, which I have numbered and initialled with the signature – Marques –. The first leaf holds the official letter of His Excellency the Archbishop of Mitilene*, in Lisbon, ordering me to hold the inquiry into the seer children and other trustworthy witnesses; the remaining leaves contain the depositions of the three children, Lúcia, Jacinta and Francisco, and those of four further trustworthy witnesses. There follows an appendix consisting of: the deposition of Maria do Carmo, of the parish of Maceira, diocese of Leiria, dated 18 June 1918 and signed by the deponent and by her Reverend Parish Priest, Manuel Antunes Marto; a letter from José Pereira Novo, of the hamlet of Torre, parish of Reguengo do Fetal; a letter of mine published in the newspaper “A Ordem”, dated 15 August 1917; a letter from the Most Excellent Dona Maria José de Lemos Queirós published in the Jornal da Beira, dated 30 October 1917; and a printed leaflet by the Most Excellent Dona Maria Augusta Saraiva Vieira de Campo, dated October 1917 and printed with the authorisation of His Excellency the Most Reverend Bishop-Count of Coimbra*.
