What I saw at Fátima was simply marvellous! What a great miracle I saw, my God! What a great grace was granted me! I tell you nothing of it here, because it is impossible to describe. I went with the greatest serenity, which I have always had, but even more so since I received your letter, and I give thanks to God that I went in that frame of mind. What I was being kept for! What emotion in that moment! How I would like to be with you now; you would understand me so well! I send you a leaf taken from the field where Our Lady of the Rosary, St Joseph and the Child Jesus appeared; the oak tree4 over which the Apparition takes place is left with only its bare stems, as the leaves had been taken at the other Apparitions. Maria Innocencia was there too, and she heard Lucia speak with Our Lady! A thousand regards from my Mother, who had been suffering from bouts of fever for 4 months and has been completely well since the 13th, despite the enormous soaking she got!

Editor's notes (1)

4 It was a holm oak and not an oak tree.
