In June Jacinta asked her mother not to go to the fair of the thirteenth at Pedreiras, a league* from Porto de Mós, so that she could go and see Our Lady. Her mother, hearing this request, said to her: “Ah! you're not going there, Our Lady doesn't appear to you”. To which the little girl replied: – “Yes she does, Our Lady said she would appear and so she will appear.” Her mother retorted: “So you're not going to the feast of Saint Anthony*?” “No,” the little girl confirmed, “Our Lady is more beautiful than Saint Anthony”.
Em junho a Jacinta pediu à Mãe que não fosse à feira dos treze nas Pedreiras, a uma légua de Porto de Mós, para poder ir ver Nossa Senhora. A Mãe ao ouvir este pedido, disse-lhe: “Ah! tu não vais lá, Nossa Senhora não te aparece”. Ao que a pequena retorquiu: – “Aparece sim, Nossa Senhora disse que aparecia e por isso aparece.” A Mãe replicou: “Então não vais à festa de Santo António?” “Não, confirmou a pequena, Nossa Senhora é mais bonita que Santo António”.
