Em treze de setembro foi também à Cova da Iria. Estava um pouco afastado das crianças. Não viu nada, nem ouviu nada, mas ouviu dizer que algumas pessoas tinham visto coisas extraordinárias na atmosfera. Ouviu dizer às crianças que Nossa Senhora havia de dizer em outubro o que é que queria e havia de fazer um milagre para que todo o povo acreditasse.
