Jacinta Marto
Once some very rich ladies came to their house and offered Jacinta various jewels they were wearing if she would tell them the secret. Jacinta said she would not tell it for anything, not even if they gave her the whole world. Even during her last illness her mother would say to her: “I'll despise you and want nothing to do with you if you don't tell me the secret”. And the daughter would reply that she could not tell it. “At least you must tell me whether it's good or bad,” the mother insisted. She would answer that it was good for those who were willing to believe. “Believe in what?” the mother would ask. “In God,” the daughter would conclude. And she added that it was bad for those who would not believe.
“Acreditar no quê?”, perguntava a mãe.
