1st witness – António dos Ramos Mira3, married, resident in the parish of Reguengo do Fetal, eyewitness of the events that took place at Fátima on the thirteenth of October 1917, sworn on the Holy Gospels, said: that he went to the place of the apparitions in the rain and that a quarter of an hour after the rain stopped he saw that huge multitude of people, crying out loudly and almost all kneeling, turned towards the sun, and that it showed unusual signs, spinning on itself, trembling, observing at the same time that around it there appeared a reddish-yellow colour, which was reflected on the whole multitude and on the horizon, while at the same time there was a weakening of the light and an increase in temperature. The multitude, even the unbelievers, said it was a manifest miracle. It is public knowledge that the little children had said six months before that on that day, at that hour and in that place a miracle would take place; which drew there a multitude of about forty thousand people, who returned home believers. And he said no more and signs his deposition.
