"On the thirteenth of July I was beside the children. Lucia brought a basket of flowers and covered the holm-oak shrub with them. Then she knelt and said the rosary, holding in her hand a lighted candle that a woman gave her. Then she spoke and said that whoever could should kneel. Next she asked: "What is it that my Mother wants of me?" A little later she asked again: "Then you don't want anything more of me?" Then she made several requests to her for people from Pedrogam, Athouguia and Aljustrel, asking for cures and conversions" She also asked whether she could not work a miracle so that all the people would believe. After listening to the answer she said: "Goodbye! Everyone turn that way!" An hour later, when the child was with me, she told me that the Lady had said that on the last day she would work a miracle so that all the people would believe.
