Teresa de Jesus, married, seamstress, twenty-four years of age1, native of Aljustrel and resident in the hamlet of Lomba in this parish of Fátima, sister of Lúcia – the seer – appearing before me and being questioned about what she knew concerning what happened at the Cova da Iria and in her parents' house, about what her sister Lúcia said regarding the Apparitions of Our Lady, declared that on the thirteenth of July nineteen hundred and seventeen she arrived at the holm-oak shrub at the same time as her sister Lúcia and her seer cousins, and saw that her sister – and cousins –, without anyone telling them to, knelt down, and she led the rosary, saying it with the people after telling them to kneel. She stood up, remaining standing for some time, knelt again and told her cousin Jacinta to watch whether she saw the lightning, because the hour was coming. After a few minutes she noticed that her sister felt so strong a shock that it made her exclaim: Oh!! Our Lady..., and, turned towards the holm-oak shrub, she was speaking, asking questions and waiting for answers, like someone talking to another person.

She also declared that the questions were: 1st What it was that she wanted of her. – 2nd That there was a lame man there to be made better. – 3rd That she asked for a woman from Pedrógão to be made better. – 4th That she asked for a woman and family from Fátima to be converted. – 5th That she asked her to work a miracle so that the people would believe. When these questions had been asked, Lúcia suddenly stood up and, turned towards the east, pointed, saying: Turn that way, if you want to see Our Lady...

She further declared that Lúcia, after beginning the supposed dialogue with Our Lady, was prompted by Jacinta, who was at her side,

--- to answer the Lady, saying to her: Don't you see the Lady is already speaking?!
