[1] Extracto d'uma carta da D. Marianna Pinto Coelho a sua Tia Marqza da Ribeira Grande.

"I am writing to tell you my impressions of Fátima on the 13th of this month (13 Oct. 1917). They were the greatest of my life, and however many years I may live I shall never forget those delightful moments — I saw so many things! I saw the sun come down towards the earth in an extraordinary way, so that the heat even became uncomfortable; I saw it spin round at speed like little Catherine wheels; I saw the sun like a host*.

"Venho contar-lhe as minhas impressões de Fátima, no dia 13 do corrente (13 d'Outº 1917).

There are those who say they saw the sun in a great variety of colours; I saw it snow-white, or else dark grey. I saw all this, and what impresses and consoles most is the great manifestation of Faith. I spoke with the eldest little girl, who is not pretty but very likeable, shy and modest; I had to drag [1v] the words out of her, and at the end of it all — speaking to the crowds — she looked like a Priest in the pulpit, with her face transfigured.
