"I come to tell you my impressions of Fátima on the 13th of this month (13 Oct. 1917). They were the greatest of my life, and however many years I may live I shall never forget those delightful moments — I saw so many things! I saw the sun come down towards the earth in an extraordinary way, the heat becoming almost unbearable; I saw it spin round at speed like little firework wheels; I saw the sun like a host.
There are those who say they saw the sun in a great variety of colours; I saw it snow-white, or else dark grey; I saw all this, and what impresses and consoles most, the great manifestation of Faith. I spoke with the eldest little girl, who is not pretty but very likeable, shy and modest; it was necessary to drag [1v] the words out of her, and at the end of it all — speaking to the crowds — she looked like a Priest in the pulpit, with her face transfigured.
Venho contar-lhe as minhas impressões de Fátima, no dia 13 do corrente (13 d'Outº 1917).
