Dear Cousin
Querida Prima
I had the great happiness of going to Fatima, with the greatest of obstacles right up to the end, but everything was overcome, and I went. I shall never forget it!! There were upwards of 50,000 people, and with what respect and devotion.
Nunca me esquecerei!!
Men by the thousands. Of course no one [2] saw Our Lady except the 3 little ones, but what everyone saw was the golden light that fell on all the people during Our Lady's stay on earth. Just imagine: it was pouring with rain, but at 2 o'clock on the dot the sun came out, and then there were the most extraordinary lights imaginable. Our Lady said that she was the Lady of the Rosary, who came to bring peace, that [3] the war would end this very year and that we would soon have our soldiers* back here. That a chapel should be built for her there, that we should pray the rosary a great deal, and that we should mend our ways because we have greatly offended God!!! You can imagine the impression it all made. The 3 little ones never contradict themselves and are as innocent and simple as can be.
[4] I shall never forget the cry of all those people to Our Lady, and the devotion with which they prayed. What will happen? There are still many people who doubt, and anything is possible. Time will tell. You can get all the news from Fr Francisco4, who went and is tremendously impressed. I am writing in a rush because today is the day of the first Communion [15] and Confirmation, and a great deal of running about, but I wanted you to have news. God grant you are much better.
