[1v] Most Excellent Sir
[1v] Ex.mº Senhor
I have read the book “Os episodios maravilhosos de Fatima”, in which my deposition appears. I thank you gratefully for the flattering and kind words that precede it.
I am sending you a copy with some changes of form, not of meaning, which should be made if a new edition is published.
[2] Should a second edition be made some day, I ask you to have these small amendments made.
The most important one is at the bottom of page 21. Where it says 'postes'* I must have written 'fustes'*. I have no copy of my deposition, but from the similarity of the handwritten words it must be 'fustes', and [2v] never 'postes'. What I am referring to there is the column of smoke (a 'fuste', a shaft) and not wooden posts. That phrase of mine should be put in the singular, 'fuste', not 'fustes'. This mistake is perhaps mine.
All the other emendations I indicate seem to me advantageous and necessary.
Todas as outras emendas, que eu indico, parecem-me vantajosas e necessarias.
I hope the corrections will be made in future.
Espero que no futuro sejam introdusidas as correcções.
Thanking you for all your favours, I thank you once again for your great kind-[1]ness and amiability.
Ever at your service, your grateful friend
