I went back to Fatima on 19 October; I went to see the children and speak with them. With us went a priest who had already interrogated them several times, those interrogations being most interesting.
Contrary to what had happened to some people, I liked the children immensely; they are robust, healthy, cheerful, frank and likeable, with an ease of manner proper to their age. They did not run away from us, but received us kindly. We were present at a lengthy interrogation, made of each child separately. They answer frankly, promptly, and with the greatest simplicity. Nevertheless one can see that they do not much like being interrogated, that it bores them, and that they answer only because they feel obliged to.
