Last night a motor car carrying Carbonari*, among them a certain Fialho, left here secretly for Fatima, and there, in the dead of night, like highwaymen, they tore down the wooden frame and brought it back together with the cross, the arch of greenery and a picture of Our Lady. Hontem á noite sahiu d'aqui secretamente para a Fatima um automovel com carbonarios, entre os quaes um certo Fialho, e alli pela calada da noite, como salteadores, arrancaram a armação de madeira, e trouxeram-na juntamente com a cruz, o arco de verdura e um quadro de Nossa Senhora, não trazendo tambem a carrasqueira porque restava apenas uma pequena parte do tronco d'ella, que não sei se se trouxeram. Ao front bater-se com os allemães é que elles não vão, os heroicos paysanos. Nem sequer á Fatima se atreveram a ir de dia, os valentes.
