There must have been more than 300 vehicles along the road and perhaps, among them, more than 100 motor cars. People came from Lisbon, Santarem and even from Guimarães! From every part of the country.

The emotion that overwhelmed the spirit of most of those people you can still judge from the Seculo's description.

It was astounding!

And with good reason.

Let them — the learned — give whatever explanation they like to the phenomenon, but the fact is that a phenomenon was produced — not foreseen — and it was produced precisely on the day and at the hour that those children indicated.

What are we to conclude from this?

I do not know.

The sun had movements of rotation of a dizzying rapidity.

It could be seen going round so that it looked like “a firework wheel”, in the expression of some peasant or other.

And the weather, which was rainy [1v], seeming as if it would be so all day, cleared up precisely at that moment. Coincidence? Perhaps.

But how do the unbelievers explain the fact that that child, seconds before the phenomenon was produced, said “Look at the sun. It's now” .

And the phenomenon was produced. And nobody knew of what nature the phenomenon that was going to be produced was, and all, from the nearest to the farthest — and you understand that, with some 30,000 people there according to the calculations made, there were people very far from one another — all, I repeat, in those brief moments, saw the same phenomenon. Therefore there was no suggestion.
