Lúcia said that she saw Our Lady on the Sunday following the 13th2 at the place called Valinho3; first she saw the signs in the air as they usually appeared; she saw Our Lady coming from the east, and then she alighted on top of the holm-oak shrub.

I bowed to her, stood up again and asked her:

– What do you want of me?

– “I want to tell you to go back there to the Cova da Iria; if they had not made off with you to the Aldeia4 the Miracle would have been better known; St. Joseph was to come with the Child Jesus to give peace to the world, and Our Lord was to come to bless the people; Our Lady of the Rosary was coming with an angel on each side, and Our Lady with an arch of flowers around her.”

I asked:

– That money that you have, what do you want done with it?

– With that money make two little litters*, very small ones; you carry one, with three other girls like you, all dressed in white; Francisco carries the other, with three other boys like him; let them wear white capes; take it to Our Lady of the Rosary and use it for her. Then she went off up through the air and I said goodbye.

I asked her the 1st or 2nd time who she was, and she said that she would tell me on the last day.

Fiz-lhe uma vénia, levantei-me outra vez e perguntei-lhe:
