The 13th of October wakes like a day of heavy winter, although the rain falls slowly. All morning it rains without stopping. The paths and roads are full of people who, coming from distant lands, had not reckoned on rain, since for many months not a drop had fallen. On arriving at the place they lit fires until the hour approached.

The moment of the apparition arrives and what the whole world knows takes place. The sun spins round on itself and all who were wet appear dry, as I was one of them. A gentleman from Leiria appeared distributing illustrations with the portraits of the three children and of Our Lady, entrusting me with a bundle although he did not know me.
