And that impression grew stronger when the Rev. Cardoso, of Portalegre4, who during the vision was beside the little shepherd girls, told us that the eldest, while still on her knees beside the holm-oak shrub, said to all who surrounded her: — Look at the sun now! — and the solar phenomenon followed immediately.

You can, then, tell Dr. Formigão that I was beside the children the whole time, and I myself had already told him this there at Fátima; it's just that he naturally doesn't remember that he was there with me near the parish church of Fatima.

Tell him too that I am ready to give any information he may wish, for the good of our cause and the glory of God, for I am anxious to know the result of the investigations into the wonderful event of 13 October last, which someone, surely on the orders of His Eminence*, was to carry out.
