Man of the people from Carrascos (Paço, Torres Novas), aged 58 when Formigão met him at Fátima on 13 October 1919; he had seen the solar phenomenon on 13 October 1917 and attributed his recovery from a twelve-year chronic pharyngitis to a vow to Our Lady made that November.

A man of the people comes up to me and tells me in broad outline the interesting story of his cure. His name is António de Oliveira Dias; he is 58 years old and lives in the hamlet of Carrascos, parish of Paço, municipality of Torres Novas. For twelve years he had been suffering from chronic pharyngitis, resistant to all treatment. The doctors were of the opinion that he would never be radically cured. On the thirteenth of October 1917 he had come to Fátima and witnessed the stupendous solar phenomenon.

Um homem do povo dirige-se a mim e conta-me a traços largos a interessante história da sua cura. Chama-se António de Oliveira Dias, tem 58 anos de idade e reside no lugar dos Carrascos, freguesia do Paço, concelho de Torres Novas. Sofria, havia doze anos, duma faringite crónica, rebelde a todo o tratamento. Os médicos eram de opinião que nunca se curaria radicalmente. Em treze de outubro de 1917 tinha vindo à Fátima e presenciado o estupendo fenómeno solar.
