A few days ago a gentleman from here and his wife, people of standing and good principles, went to visit the place of the Apparition. There were a good many people there praying, and little Lucia was there, but it made a bad impression to see her with a money box asking for alms.

The same family from here who told of the money box also said that the little girl had not made a good impression on them when answering the questions put to her, reciting everything like [2v] a barrel organ or a repeater watch*.

She seemed to be repeating a lesson she had been taught, without any real feeling of piety and without a true awareness of the grace received.
