Last night many common people organised a parade in the manner of a procession, with some drums at the front and, following, the branches of the famous tree of the apparition of the Virgin at Fátima. In the same parade were carried the myrtle arch, the lit lanterns, the cross and other objects that the believers had placed on the improvised altar. The followers chanted picturesque 'litanies' and, at a measured pace, went through the main streets of the city, dispersing in the praça Sá da Bandeira, from which it had set out, many of the demonstrators then gathering in front of a window in the rua Direita from which a bucket of water had been thrown, which caught some demonstrators and one of the policemen who had joined the parade, and they stayed there for some time in a hostile attitude towards the owner of the house, until a corporal and a guard of the civic police appeared, asking the demonstrators to disperse, which they then did.
