What the Lady wore on her feet – were they stockings? Are you sure of that?
– I reckon they were stockings, but they might not have been.
4th – You have never told the secret, nor even said that the people would be sad if they knew it. Francisco and Jacinta say that they would be sad. If you cannot say that, neither could they say it. What do you think?
– I don't know whether they should or shouldn't say that the people would be sad. Our Lady said we were not to tell anything to anyone. That is why I can't say anything.
2nd – You once said that the Lady had white stockings. So were they stockings or were they her feet?
– If they were stockings, they were white, but I don't know for sure whether they were stockings or her feet.
3rd – Was the skirt always the same length?
– The last time the skirt seemed longer.

– Cuido que eram meias, mas podiam não ser.
4ª – Tu nunca disseste o segredo, nem mesmo disseste que o povo ficava triste se o soubesse. O Francisco e a Jacinta dizem que ficava triste. Se tu não podes dizer isso, também eles o não podiam dizer. Que te parece?
– Não sei se eles deviam ou não dizer, que o povo ficava triste. Nossa Senhora disse que não devíamos dizer nada a ninguém. Por isso não posso dizer nada.
2a – Tu disseste uma vez que a Senhora tinha meias brancas. Então eram as meias ou eram os pés?
– Se eram meias, eram brancas, mas eu não sei ao certo se eram meias ou se eram os pés.
3a – A saia era sempre do mesmo comprimento?
– A saia da última vez parecia mais comprida.
